Water Pump Troubleshooting Guide
This quick guide is designed to help customers diagnose a failed water pump for vans manufactured after 2022.
Your water pump can fail for many different reasons and in many different ways. Our goal is to get your water pump working properly as soon as possible, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Gain access to the water pump
- In vans manufactured July 2023 or newer, you can access your vans water pump by opening the rear utility bay door (just below the water fill panel).
- For vans manufactured before July 2023, the water pump can be accessed by
- Removing the mattress and bed top and look downward into the utility box (just behind the water fill panel).
- Remove the water fill panel be removing the 4 phillips screws and disconnecting the water fill hose (flat head screwdriver)
Step 2:Diagnose the water pump
- Confirm that load output is turned on at the solar controller (lightbulb indicator light is illuminated on the front facer of the solar controller)(all other electrical components in the van should be working).
- Confirm the water pump fuse is not blown (The fuse block and fuse diagram are in the utility bay cabinet next to the solar controller).
- Fully drain your fresh water tank before refilling ½ full. (if there is debris in the tank this is a quick way to eliminate it from clogging the pump).
- Turn the water pump switch “on” and listen/feel that the water pump is running. (is the water pump switch halo ring indicator light illuminated?)
- Unscrew and remove the aerator from the faucet.
- Turn on the faucet.
- While the water pump is running and the faucet is on, turn the winterise valve from “water on” to “Winterize” , wait 15 seconds and then turn back to “water on” and wait for 15 seconds. Repeat this process 5 times. Is there a change in tonal pitch when the valve is turned from one position to the other?
- Inspect the water lines from the water pump to the winterize valve and from the winterize valve to the water tank. If you can’t see them feel from start to end with your hand. Are the lines kinked? Is there any water or moisture at the connections?
- Turn the water pump off.
Try priming the pump with water lines disconnected:
- Unscrew the water output connection on the right side ( passenger side) of the water pump to disconnect the water output hose.
- Connect the shower head hose (from the outdoor propane water heater) to the water pump output connection. Remove the shower head and off/on valve so that just the hose is connected.
- With the shower hose connected and aimed outside of the van, turn the water pump on
