# Recommended Maintenance
## Regular maintenance will keep your van in great shape and prevent potential issues down the road.
**Reseal the exterior of your van every year.**
Over time, exposure to UV rays, rain, snow, and temperature fluctuations can cause the sealant on your camper van’s roof to crack or degrade. It's recommended to **inspect your campervan roof seals every 6 months to a year**, depending on your climate and how often you use the vehicle. If you notice any cracks, shrinking, or peeling in the sealant, it's time to reapply.
Reapplying SELF LEVELING lap sealant is an easy DIY task and typically involves cleaning the old sealant, applying a new layer, and letting it cure to form a durable seal.

Follow the instructions for application.
You will also need a caulk gun and a putty knife.
**Oil butcher block countertops:**
Re-oil every 4–6 weeks with regular use. Apply [Walrus Oil](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07661YWRJ?ref=fed_asin_title) with a cloth, let soak 2–3 hours, wipe clean. For deeper wear, sand with 120–200 grit sandpaper before re-oiling.
